An old Blog...

So this blog I posted on MySpace almost a year ago but I felt that it was worthy enough to be transferred over.

I have also uploaded a little something which is new but makes me feel pretty much the same way I did when I heard the track that inspired me enough to feel the need to blog about it. I have posted the track at the bottom.

Speakers Corner...READ!
Current mood: impressed
Category: Music

You write one blog and all of a sudden you feel the need to constantly let people know what you are thinking. Hahaha

Alright, in my opinion most of us Canadians sleep and are sleeping on our own talent. I can probably say that the majority of you reading this will agree on that statement. But at the same time it has been said many times by others and will be said many more times to come. Regardless of if I state it or someone else it really won't make much of a difference. I don't normally make any statements on music or I should say Canadian Hip-Hop to be exact because I believe that the listeners need to make a judgment on their own but at the same time I just heard a track by one of our own and I need to voice my opinion. This doesn't happen often...actually...it has NEVER happened but this track really hit a spot...and I need to voice it mang.

Artist: Tona

Track: Speakers Corner

Tona in my opinion is one of few upcoming MC's (and this goes worldwide, yes that's a big statement but in my opinion I truly believe it) who is really holding his ground and putting music out there that pleasures your ears. Judge for your self...it made a big enough impression on me to actually make me write about it!

Good music or I should say good Hip-Hop is hard to come by these days; a lot of these upcoming artists are putting tracks out there simply to just make a hit. Who cares what the lyrics say...just make a hit...put a good beat on it and that should do it. Sad to say but its true...sit back and think about it...take the majority of the tracks you bump your heads to at a club or in your car or at home or even see on television...really...do the lyrics make any sense or mean anything? NOPE...take away the beat and then try to listen to the lyrics...or better yet go look up the lyrics and tell me if you can still call that track a song. So take away the beat and most of these hits aren't really considered to be anything.

Lyrically the music we once knew as Hip-Hop has faded. I'm not saying it's gone but it's just hard to come by. I don't pick favourites and I won't name any of whom I prefer but I do think that us Canadians really need to start listening to the talent we have in our own backyard instead of constantly going south of the border because somehow someone said that's where all the talent is.

Now go listen...take it in...and I mean it...really take in the track...Speakers Corner! The lyrics speak for it self.

Keep Telling You - Tona feat. Famous

A very good battle...

I don't really need to say much about this next post...if you enjoy bboy battles then you will enjoy this video...I promise you!!! I must have watched this 20 times and I never get sick of it. For those of you who also like the the first track its by Frankie Valli VS The Four Seasons and its called Beggin'...its a 2 part battle and I have posted both in order to be watched.
I don't think I give it to either team...both are sick in my opinion. =D

Music

Just some songs I'm really feeling right now... =D

I really need to write something for this track...its takes me back...take a listen and take it in...track is fire!!! (Even though it says Common its actually by The Game feat. Common)
The CD "LAX" is actually pretty good...another track to definitely check out is "Ya Heard" featuring Ludacris. Couldn't find it to post.

Okie so as I was looking for the next song to upload and I came across the video...so here you go...(at least I can kinda follow this video unlike his first single video...that made so sense to me)

Now this next song, I'm actually really feeling even though I'm not her biggest fan...yes I said it...I'm not a huge fan...she's got some good tracks and some tracks that I really can't stand...however this one...I can stand. (Notice how the video is in Black & White and song is very much like Ciara's "Like A Boy" which also had a Black & White video? Hmmmm???)

Randomness

I'm sure everyone has their moments when they just really need time for themselves. I go through these every couple of months to be honest. I just take time to chill at home and put the phone on silent and berry messenger on not available and just do me. For the first time in a very long time I stayed home on a Friday and was in bed by 1am. Worked Saturday night and just watched movies, drank some wine on Sunday. It was great. I don't get to do that too often.

Last weekend I got really sick as well...I think I was actually fighting the flu and went to Niagara Falls on Tuesday for the final Jazzy Jeff show and pretty much lost my voice on Wednesday. Might not have been a good idea to go out on Tuesday but I had to actually do some work stuff too.
After losing my voice on Wednesday I decided that the only way I would get better is to stay home on Thursday. So in boredom I decided to play around with my phone...just upgraded my berry software to the 4.5 (not sure if I like it or not). But I had a theme on my phone that was only compatible for the 4.2 version...you know curiosity killed the cat...well I decided to pick it and see if it would work and guess what? It crashed my whole phone...had to call rogers and after 2 hours of being on the phone with tech support they said they were going to just send me a new one. Got the new phone on Friday and I'm back. Thank god I had my pearl from before and was able to use it as back up until I got the new one.

Me and no crackberry = a very unhappy Mahsa...LOL
So I was really in a writing mode but ended up getting some work e-mails and now my train of thought is gone.

Touch base soon.
M.

Here are some pictures from the Jazzy Jeff show in Niagara Falls.
